Emergency Vehicle Operator (Driver)

EVOC is a required course for all members interested in being an ambulance driver. To become released as a driver, members must complete a documented 10 hours of pre-course driving and familiarization, participation and completion in the EVOC course, and then 10 hours of post-course driving, familiarization, and running calls.

All of this is done with a preceptor, who will monitor your driving and provide helpful feedback. Members interested in becoming drivers must be at least 18 years old, and have a clean driving record for the past 12 months (some exceptions).

Drivers are not required to be EMTs, though like all operational members they are highly encouraged to attain EMT-Basic, and higher, certification, or at the least First Responder.
